Manafwa Manafwa is in Uganda near the border with Kenya, there is a refugee camp there. DavisWeddi, January 8: Hi Andrius, I have been trying to get in touch with one of the only Kenyan Refugees who has a mobile phone but it is off air. I am sure this is because he has run out of Airtime, if not he has no where to charge his battery from. You too can try also try the number: +254 725 929900 It is from this person that we shall have access to the refugees who have been crowded into a school and a church in Manafwa District. Life is not really good for them, Conditions are poor and the food they have is not enough. The unfortunate bit of the problem is that they occupied school classrooms and soon the school will kick them out as the academic year begins for pupils in that area. Since returning from that side, I am in constant touch the Manafwa Resident District Commission Mr. Paul Nangoli who is doing all his best to see to it that the 500 refugees now camped in his district are safe. Nangoli who is also one of the District’s security officers today told me that there are plans to transfer these refugees to a temporary camp, but he does not know when this will happen. About sending Airtime to the Kenyans to discuss, I think this will be possible after I get a clear line of communication with those refugees. I will also be getting in touch with a colleague Mr. NathanEtengu in Mbale town for an update. A team of my workmates has managed to reach Eldoret from where they will be filing reports. You can also see their most recent reports from our website http://www.newvision.co.ug For now I will wish you a good day. We pray for our Kenyan brothers. Davis +254 725 929900 AboutThisPage
