Advanced Technology

The most basic technology is to use Skype and simply project on the wall whatever appears on the computer screen. However, this limits the image to whatever the screen can show and the video card can process. A more advanced setup makes use of a special modem that handles the video signal and transfers it to the projector so that it need not go through the computer's video card.

FranzNahrada is happy with the Sony PCS-G50 technology that he has set up at his HotelKarolinenhof. The price is 5,000 euros. It supports high resolution with the 4CIF standard (704x576px). It is an IP based video conference system with data rates up to 4096kbps and support for video conference formats: H.320, H.323, H.261, H.263, H.263+, H.263++ and H.264.
