Introduction

Uyoga-United Youth Generations of Africa,this is a youth based non-profit making organisation seeking poverty reduction and development through the innovative use of information and communication technologies.Uyoga development organisation was found in Nov 2006.At present is working in Dar es salaam,Tanzania.

Overview of Activity

Mendenyo, February 7, 2007 JosephatNdibalema: We wish all a very happy new year.

Uyoga is looking forward to great things for 2007.First we would like to convey our sincere thanks to;

1.SamwelKongere-Udogo community development group co-ordinator fo coming in Dar es salaam-Tanzania o inspire us to form a group which could help young community in Tanzania.We say to Samuel that with the your help things look to happen in a positive way,we won't quit but collaborate with Udogo community for the betterment of young people in East Africa.

2.Agnese (MariaAgneseGiraudo)-our collaborator,Samuel's visit to Dar es salaam couldn't be possible without your support,thank you for being so generous to Tanzanian youth.

3.MinciuSodas Lab is never forgotten,we appriciate everything taking place in the Lab for generating ideas and we wish to take part congratulations for all that you are doing.

Uyoga sees that the problems and inspirations of young people must be given due consideration in development agenda,since they are clear an important population group.Effective youth policies and programmes needs to be closely targeted to take account of specific difference and needs.

Children Tree Learning Project

WilliamWambura, June 11, 2007, Holistic Helping, Ct-Learning Project means-Children Tree Learning Project "the project based on children for creating awarensss and understanding of our envornment,childerns are organised through football teams as a way of motivating them.On 8th/06/07 the event took place at Magomen area,kinondoni district:

Paticipants were:VISITORS,Agnese maria giraudo,Samuel Kongere. Uyoga members:josephat ndibalema,Abinel Emanuel,william wambura,Primson Lugemwa.

Subject paticipants were:30 children with two football teams.The event started by cleaning the envormment,later both teams played a games as to show to visitors also took some pictures.The purpose was to show our visitors what we always do with children in the project.At the end,visitors hadf time to talk with children,this has motivated them,it showed thatthey are mostly considered

Activities performed

1.We started by introducing the group to the community in which it is going to work.On 1st December 2006 during the WORLD AIDS DAY members introduced the group by explaining the aims and objectives,the young community right present at the event become interested to join our group.As up to now the group has 26 members male and females

2.Members have been visiting other existing projects so as to learn from them,projects visited are;(a)NGAO YOUTH GROUP based on youth creating awareness against HIV / AIDS,DRUG ABUSE and POVERTY ERADICATION,members have learnt more on how to run those activities(b)YOUTH COLLITION this is also based on youth for building education and empowerment,the organisation has promised to assist us on for seminars and workshops to foster member's understanding on issues related to youth.

Activities underway

We are also doing activities like designing,Mwanaidi and Rose are designers where Mwanaidi has curious experience and optimal skills she obtained from Mwalimu Nyerere cultural centre in Dar es salaam,we expect them to train other young women on batik makings.We are also planning for skill up-grading in consultation with our partiner groups

Again, we are now organising kids to expose them to issues related to environments as to increase their understanding of our environment,we plan to give them a great support and to teach them about taking care of our environment by envolving their parents and peole around them and local government within MAGOMENI area in Dar es salaam.That sort of community education will be privided basing on their ages and experience where local materials are involved,our programme is known as "Tree learning" under this programme children will be able to understand the importance of trees,identification of trees and conservation.Programme activities are always performed after school hours and during the weekends especially on satarday every week.As a way of motivating them we have organised sports games for kids living around Magomeni area,we supplied them with two balls and we are now looking for someone to assist on sports wear like sports shoes,sports jesses,balls and other sports equipments.The number of kids are 16 kids already in the programme.

All in all we still don't have the location where things can take place,but members understands this concept so we still look for a suitable place,the subject of income generating activities is also still under discussion we plan to start with more than one income generating activities we will ask for an advice where there is failure.Our only source of income for now is through member's contributions,the group shall not regret for any individual or organisation wishing to help so as to make a good start but we are also looking for local assistance in terms of initial grants to assist us for registration and for securing a location

We are on the way to start sending stories for myfood story as well as subscribing to Ms working groups,members are very intrested but most of them do lack computer knowledge,most of them can't even do with the internet.The committee headed by Hellen is helping them with basic instruction on how to get the internet.We hope to share rich experiences through Ms Lab an independent thinkers meeting point,we have many interesting stories about our community.We are welcoming suggestions from individuals and groups concerning what we are planning

UYOGA community members say'"No one can define happiness.You have to be unhappy to understand it'.We are unhappy ones,so we know what happiness means,we are finding happiness through helping others"
