Introduction

UnityCentres are envisioned as focal points to allow a concentration of what visionaries like Dr. DougEngelbart refers to as Human CollectiveIntelligence. To build the larger global UnityofPurpose, we have to first build the local UnityofPeople Consciousness - the idea that we are from One & of One. Under oneVillageInitiative, this goal is achieved by what are called CoCreative & OpenLearning processes in which we seek to develop EmotionalIntelligence as well as scientific and literary intelligence. Actually some believe there are as many as 12 different ways to classify intelligence. Many if not all of these may be important to affecting change in a more collective and less individualistic way - while still preserving our individual Semi-Autonomy and identity as human beings.

A UnityCentre is the PhysicalConvergenceSpace that supports the access to knowledge and cooperation from the Village to the world and from the world to the village. This includes experimentation in the development of real-world virtual environments. FullImmersionVirtualEnvironments offer RealWorld simulations of real world challenges as part of a full immersion approach to capacity building through SeriousGames and other simulative online & virtual environments.

Integrating the virtual state of the art with the BestPractices of the healing arts and sciences is key to achieving OVF's mission. OVF's realization is that the only way we can address WorldUrgentIssues is by dramatically boosting human CollectiveIntelligence. This we believe can only be achieved by creating an environment that fosters sharing, GlobalUnity and the highest realization of each person's innate potential as spiritual beings. This program is consistent with the values and aspirations of the GlobalVillage movement started by FranzNahrada.

What Unity Centers do:

1. Describe a vision to realize a concept of sustainable EcoLiving that is already being put into practice by various center & EcoVillages around the world.
2. Focus on ExperientialLearning. Make the field into the classroom so that the students acquire not only the knowledge necessary for practical activities but form the beachhead for their practical activities by beginning to apply their theories and ideas in a hands-on to actually solve challenging practical problems in the field.
3. Function as fluid and dynamic spaces subject to any group's innovation and modification as what or how an integrated built environment might be developed or evolved based on their needs and their culture's evolutionary tendencies.
4. Enable HumanTechnologyIncubation & the enrichment of human experiences resulting from a healthy exchange and integration of ideas & foster a process by which the people creating them achieve their Destiny (see Dr Johnny Washington's work on The DestinyModel) and self-actualization as human beings.
5. Promote sustainable economic development & Integration focusing on GloCal or GloCalization.

There we have sought to design a alternative model for development which re-emphisizes the value of rural and community life in our modern lives. Our plans for the development of UnityCentres including the desire to create a stimulating environment for human development and the realization of human potential A place that cultivates a richness of human experiences that is also bold and visionary towards empowering human beings to be more conscious and real in terms of how their lives affect the world around them. The vision of the UnityCentre is really about BeingTheChange that we want to see in the world.

Seeing the potential of an IntegratedApproach to SustainableDevelopment, we are united by a common bond, intention and devotion to build a SustainableWorld. In this process, we seek to identify the key practices and processes that enable the rapid development of AppropriateTechnologies globally.

Information and Communications Technologies can help us to effectively address WorldUrgentIssues in an Integrated & Synergistic way. Locally this needs to be applied regardless of specific location in a way that is HumanScale oriented with:

1. AuthenticLocalFocus is based on authentic commitment to the needs, values & aspirations of local people.
2. Development & design of effective ICT tools via a HolisticICT Infrastructure to facilitate easy and compelling access to information.
3. Design an oneVillagePatternLanguage as the basis for a globally accessible knowledgebase of BestPractices focusing on EcoLiving approaches relevant to the UnityCenterModel.
4. Integration of BestSustainablePractices towards a comprehensive approach that can be replicated to other regions.
5. Promotion of low cost a BottomUp economic development model that can deliver more ecologically sustainable services at a fraction of the cost of existing centralized infrastructure with comparable or in some cases superior quality and performance.

Identify the Missing Links

OVF believes that SustainableDevelopment needs to be done in a way that is economically compelling. In other words we do not want to rely on the fact that it is simply the right thing to do but also that it is something that one can profit from economically - some refer to this as the DoingWellDoingGood economic development model.

Project Ideas

Proposed Kibera Waste to Food Project - Kennedy Owino working in MyFoodStory suggested that we work on developing solutions that include figuring out way to recycle human waste into food. Please go to KiberaEcoCenter for more about the proposed project.

VideoBridge - Franz Nahrada and others have developed a project to develop low cost videoconferencing tools. Complementing this is a more short term approach that is exploring how webconferencing tools can be used to develop Open Digital Villages (ODVs) which are considered to be the ICT subset of UnityCentres (see also ConnectionPortal).
