Hi Richard - I can't get to the meeting next week, but hope to attend the virtual one in August.

My preference would be Skype - but I think the maximum number to attend is nine.

In some of the groups I belong to we have been doing some experiments with e-meetings, (audio-grahic, text chat, and skype voice- n-text. We have found that it is quite helpful to have a "chairman" . The chairman can be formal (guiding through an agenda) or informal. The informal chairman simply observes how many discussion threads are all going on mixed in which each other, and every now and again he creates a bit of order and suggests where the focus should lie - and people know they should follow his suggestions.

We also find that the chairman can orchestrate the most useful balance between the text threads and speech. This is one approach that we like: - to prevent everyone trying to speak at once - or all falling silent - the chairman can kind of "give the floor" to one speaker at at time. Other people respond to the speech through the text channel, until the chairman invites them to speak. Of course you can just have a free for all, but its not usually so productive, unless it is a very small group.
