Summary of our Proposals

AndriusKulikauskas, June 12, 2007, SocialAgriculture: Soon I will be looking for new work and new clients. Optimally, I think our lab could now do a project for $150,000 per year to mobilize a thousand people or so. Although more likely is that we will find a range of smaller projects. We have surveyed about a hundred of our participants' Endeavors and I think at the heart of them is "reaching out to the hard to reach" which we're pursuing in different ways. Any of our endeavors can be "central" if it helps us reach out and include the hardest to reach in all of these ways: reach out to particular groups, hold different people together, develop a culture of caring, spark motivation, teach us about life, coordinate our efforts, and help us understand God's perspective (whether or not he exists).

PrinceObiriMainoo: Computer literacy programs, such as in basic computing education, should be made available to people who need them in the urban slums and the rural areas to make it easier for them to connect with the rest of the world via the Internet. Making computers and Internet connectivity available and for community members to pool their resources together to maintain these community computer centers would go a long way to reduce frustration, boredom, ignorance and the rest that often characterize life in such areas.

Beekeeping FredKayiwa FredKayiwa wants to start beekeeping in Nabinene Village in Masaka District, Uganda where his extended family leaves. Beekeeper Mr.Busulka will advise him locally and organic beekeeper SashaMrkailo will help through the Internet. Fred needs 260 USD to start with 10 hives. Money earned will be reinvested to provide hives for more participants. FredKayiwa has written his basic proposal and now is writing further about his team. He is also starting to look for funders. Brickmaking FredKayiwa FredKayiwa proposes to start a brickmaking operation in his Ugandan village. The total budget is about 300 USD. Idea explored, expert consulted, budget conceived. Next steps include writing how the money might be recovered and returned or reinvested, writing more about the proposed location and praticipants and providing some photos, and also if possible provoding some photos of similar existing brickmaking operations or links on the web.
