We survey the different ways that "independent thinkers" around the world
are helping Kenyans in this time of crisis, especially those who we know
because we work together at the Minciu Sodas laboratory http://www.ms.lt
Ways to help include:
The simplest way to help right now is to make phone calls to Kenyans and send SMS messages. We are making a list and encouraging calls (note that Kenyan time is GMT+3 and the country code is +254. Check the price per minute - I recommend using Skype http://www.skype.com).

The people of Kenya face awful challenges but there are bright spots in
the news. There are many ways to help and a key one is simply to call,
to record their news, to share news, to include ever more people who
might allow their phone numbers to be posted, to encourage mediation and
"thinking from the opponent's point of view", to share creative ideas
(like peace songs), and to give compassion, love, prayer.
Thank you to all who share this information.
We're very interested to link with other efforts. Thank you to Ricardo,
Agnese, Pamela, Andrius who together contributed $1,000 which we have
already sent out to people helping in eight different places.
Thank you for helping! AndriusKulikauskas, MinciuSodas, http://www.ms.lt, ms@ms.lt, +370 699 30003, Vilnius, Lithuania
Instructions for purchasing cell phone Airtime
See also: SendingAirtime
You can purchase cellphone airtime for Kenyans which they can share with others. Go to http://www.mamamikes.com and click on the "Send Airtime" image. Note that most phones are Safaricom with prefix 72...whereas Celtel phones are prefix 73...
Tue, 22 Jan 2008 04:35:14 UTC Jennifer: Instructions for using www.kikwe.com to send instant airtime: At the website, enter the recipient's name. Then enter the last six digits of the recipient's phone number in the box under "other digits". Next, the three digits in front of the six digit number is the recipient's number prefix (plus a 0 in front). These numbers are found by scrolling the box under "number prefix". If you do not see your prefix, click the box to the left entitled "their phone network", and then you should be able to find their prefix (plus a zero in front). You do not need to enter the 254 at the beginning of the phone number. You can add a text message, and click "add number" and follow the instructions to pay via credit card.
I am posting this because I wanted to contribute airtime after hearing a radio program about pyramidofpeace.net in the USA. I was confused at first about how to contribute and to whom! However, it is really very easy once I figured it out. I thought it might be a good idea to list those people needing airtime in a separate place, and maybe update that information, maybe even on a separate webpage? I have sent airtime directly to Patrick in Maragoli via www.kikwe.com , and I hope it goes through okay. Peace and blessings.
SashaMrkailo : Thank you Jennifer a lot! Please spread the word about the Pyramid of Peace!
Requests for Airtime, Please doublecheck!
Thank you for contacting us! Please help us verify that you have good will! by sharing your news and your contact information and helping us double check so we get to know each other.
We have received here at our wiki some requests for
help from Kenyans. I ask, please, is there a Kenyan participant who
might check on these requests below?
We simply don't know if these are legitimate requests or if these are
from scammers. But you can likely figure it out by sending them text
messages or talking to them and asking them:
- How are they volunteering?
- How did they learn of us?
- What are phone numbers of other people who might verify them?
- Who could they help us reach out to?
- Do they have an email? May we sign them up for a group?
- Can they meet with somebody we know?
If they would like to help and participate in our network, then chances
are good that these are legitimate requests. We can get to know each
other. Let's please check! Who might do this? If you ask for email, please consider including your email if you have one. Or write to me at ms@ms.lt AndriusKulikauskas January 26, 2008 14:02 CET

Wed, 30 Jan 2008 23:17:43 UTC Patrick Bunyali Kamoyani: Today there was a smooth traffic flow in and out of Maragoli in Vihiga of Western Province Kenya. The public service vehicles had twigs and Raila's portrait displayed. People were able to go to Kisumu and Kakamega though the fares were double. We pray and believe that the situation will calm. I appeal all members of worknets to send peaceful sms to as many people as possible. I am short of airtime credit which I also use for wireless internet connection to get in touch with the world. Further I appeal to the international community to strongly call for an end to the skirmishes. We need a permanent solution.
Thu, 31 Jan 2008 17:41:03 UTC Nyaoro: Today Kisumu was very peaceful business as usual but when the news of ODM MP killed swirled around people started screaming and shouting. Spontaneously violence ensued.
Now its a ghost Town I appeal to everybody to defy violence and preach peace as we pray for permanent solution.
Please its now impossible to get Airtime and appeal to brothers and sisters in other peaceful towns kindly send me air time tel 0721831773
PEACE

A letter from Gunshot Victims, to you.Share
3:57pm Today
Fellow Human beings, Fellow Kenyans.
There are have many victims of mindless violence. If you are feeling helpless you can empower yourself. These are just a few of the people who have been directly affected:
Peter, gunshot wound
Oscar, gunshot wound.
Collins, gunshot to right shoulder.
Vincent, cut by blunt object
George, gunshot wound.
Alex, 22, gunshot wound and broken femur.
Alfrank, 28,teacher, gunshot wound to the chest.
Collins, 23, gunshot wound.
Peter, 20, gunshot wound to the chest.
Jacob, 16, gunshot wound to the backside.
David, 26, gunshot wound and fractured leg.
Kennedy, 24, gunshot to the eye and shoulder.
Collins, 20, gunshot to the lower leg.
Francis, pastor, gunshot in the lower back.
There are many ways to help the innocent people who have been caught up in the middle. Prayers, support, donations and love are just some of the ways we can make a difference.
This is a time when we Kenyans need to come together, to heal and to begin slowly to move forward in this amazing country of ours.
Thank you.

Sat, 09 Feb 2008 11:27:37 UTC Ken Chelimo: The worknets organization has done a commendable job throughout the trying moments of post election violence in Kenya. As Kenyans, we need to say hats off to all those who were involved in its inception. Blessings
Thu, 14 Feb 2008 14:20:22 UTC BENSON WAMBUGU CELL No. 0724115587: Hi! Ken Chelimo
Police and para-military unit are still patrolling Uhuru Park in Nairobi almost a week after the government lifted the ban on public rallies. They are creating alot of tension even when calm has returned in the city and its environs.
